When Will the War Continue in Naruto Shippuden
Between the original Naruto anime and its sequel seriesNaruto Shippuden, there are over 700 episodes of content for fans to enjoy in the Narutofranchise. If each episode averages 20 minutes, that is roughly 230 hours of anime or almost 10 straight days of binging (without sleep). Clearly, Naruto is a massive commitment. Luckily the adventures ofNarutoare so entertaining that fans can easily forgive themselves for the collective hours of sleep they have lost while binging through this anime staple series.
Everyone knows that committing to a Naruto binge is the opposite of light work, but can anyone guess what the longest arc in theNarutofranchise is?
10/10 The Tenchi Bridge Reconnaissance Mission (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 33-53)
This arc follows Team Kakashi as they visit the Tenchi Bridge to find Sasuke. While on their adventure to reunite the trio that vaulted this franchise into the anime limelight, Naruto demonstrates some incredible new power-ups, including his four-tailed transformation. All it took to push Naruto this far was the mere mention of Sasuke's skill in comparison to his own.
Surely fans can remember the feeling of awe they felt when Naruto was taunted by Sasuke's name. It was clear that the moment the pair was reunited, they would both be exponentially stronger than the last time they fought.
9/10 Past Arc: Locus Of Konoha (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 176-196)
Even filler arcs can get plenty long in anime, and Naruto is no exception. The Past Arc: Locus of Konoha arc gives viewers the opportunity to slow down and consider how far Naruto has come as a character since first being introduced.
While some fans might not be interested in an entire 21 episode arc of filler, Past Arc: Locus of Konoha is definitely worth the time. Giving the supporting cast the chance to speak on the past allowsNaruto: Shippuden to lean into genres that it often avoids, adding a bit more variety to this lengthy series.
8/10 Fourth Shinobi World War: Countdown (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 215-222 & 243-256)
The Fourth Shinobi World War: Countdown arc gives viewers the chance to spend time with each of the warring parties as they prepare for the inevitable showdown between the Allied Shinobi Forces and the forces of Akatsuki.
This arc is the perfect place to go for fans of training arcs. Though it begins slowly with a Team Kakashi reunion, it soon develops into one of the best training arcs to ever make it into an anime series. Few will forget when Naruto fought an evil version of himself in order to gain control of the Nine-Tails.
7/10 Pain's Assault (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 152-169 & 172-175)
A summary of the Pain's Assault arc actually sounds eerily similar to the entire plot ofAttack on Titan. The antagonists, the six Paths of Pain, have hopes of capturing the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, in order to steal the power contained within his body. After defeating Naruto in combat and nearly taking him captive, Pain reveals that he plans to use the power of the Nine-Tails to create a super weapon that will somehow guarantee world peace. Its the kind of logic fans have come to expect from an anime antagonist with hints of narcissism and nonsense sprinkled in for good measure.
Before Pain can escape with Naruto in hand, Hinata appears to confess her love then gets beat up by Pain just long enough to push Naruto into new and powerful transformation.
6/10 Three Tails Appearance (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 89-112)
If it takes 24 episodes to capture the Three-Tails, how many episodes does it take to capture the Nine-Tails? Needless to say, it's a bunch. But that's not necessarily a bad thing when the arc is this good.
The Three Tails Appearance arc is one of the best arcs inNaruto: Shippuden simply because it follows the Akatsuki as they attempt to lure the Three-Tails out of a lake and into their trap. Watching a group of antagonists fight a giant powerful monster is incredibly entertaining.
5/10 Sasuke Recovery Mission (Naruto, Ep 107-135)
The first entry on this list from the original anime seriesNaruto comes with best boy Sasuke at the center of the ongoing conflict. When Orochimaru appeals to Sasuke by teasing him with his power, Naruto steps up to try and stop his friend from defecting.
The arc begins with a battle between Naruto and Sasuke to prove which of the two has grown stronger over the first hundred episodes of the anime. While the result of the fight is inconclusive, Sasuke believes that anything other than a victory proves his weakness. A number of other battles follow this one, but the arc can't reach its conclusion until Naruto and Sasuke battle one last time.
4/10 Kazekage Rescue Mission (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 1-32)
With the threat of the Akatsuki looming, Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke each begin this arc by training under one of the three Legendary Sannin.
By beginning here, it becomes clear that Shippuden planned to pick up right where the originalNaruto series left off, except with a few extra years of training under each of the main characters' belt.
3/10 Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 322-348 & 362-375)
If the Confrontation and Countdown arcs that precede the Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax arc weren't epic enough for fans ofShippuden, the final leg of the ongoing saga should surely be enough.
The arc begins with the resurrection of Madara, who fans know as one of the most powerful, if not the most powerful, antagonist in the entire franchise. As the arc progresses, a show that is known for its action set pieces truly outdoes itself in terms of the scale of each battle that takes place. Furthermore, fans are treated to a number of beautifully animated transformations from the show's protagonist and the supporting cast. This saga may be long and filled with a decent amount of filler, but it is well worth the time it takes to watch through it.
2/10 The Chunin Exams (Naruto, Ep 20-67)
The Chunin Exams arc introduces some of the most iconic characters in theNaruto franchise. Among the new characters introduced in this arc are Orochimaru, the Three Sand Siblings, and fan favorite Rock Lee as a part of Team Guy.
Although the battles inNarutoincrease in scale with each arc, the Chunin Exams is still one of the most well-loved tournament arcs in Naruto and the larger anime culture.
1/10 Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation (Naruto: Shippuden, Ep 261-270, 272-289, 296-310, & 312-321)
The longest arc in all of Naruto is none other than the Fourth Shinobi World War: Confrontation arc. This battle arc takes the idea of a tournament arc to the extreme by setting the Allied Shinobi Forces against the Akatsuka in a battle that will determine the fate of the Ten-Tails. Coming in at 53 episodes— 60 with the filler included— this arc is massive.
Still, if fans are looking for the best battles in the entireNaruto franchise, the Fourth Shinobi World War Saga is a great place to start.
